My husband Dan and I have had a 200 gallon aquarium for 16 years, however we have not had water or fish in it for about 5 years.

The final touch was to paint the stand a glossy black. We were not too sure that was the way to go, but this tank is just off our kitchen and all the appliances are black so it worked out quite well. It is hard to believe it is the ugly basic pine stand that came with the tank 16 years ago.

My husband added the final touches to the tank by adding some natural rock pieces and this is the final result. There are fish in the tank, but are quite small yet so it is hard to find them in the pictures. They seem to love the tank and all of the hiding places it provides.

Once the tank was finally done, we cleaned the glass inside and out. We waited until it was dark outside and turned off all of the room lighting so I could take the digital photos with minimal reflections.

Overall we are very happy with the final results and the fish really seem to enjoy it. We forgot how relaxing it is to just sit and watch the fish swim around. We are happy to be back into the aquarium hobby again, but I really hope I can keep my husband reined in to just one big tank!
